Robert De Niro took time out of his also busy day to stop by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about life, work, and just being Robert De Niro.
Life for Robert De Niro is good because work is good. At the age of 75, Robert De Niro is still going strong.
He and Stephen Colbert ate fudge covered ice cream. They talked about the Tribeca Film Festival and Robert De Niro’s interview with fame director Martin Scorsese.
De Niro told Colbert that the interview will be smooth sailing because he knows Scorsese and Scorsese knows him. So, no worries.
De Niro and Scorsese have teamed up together to make their ninth film, The Irishman. The Irishman is a movie about a mob hitman who claims to know the answer to the question of “Who killed Jimmy Hoffman.”
Stephen Colbert asked Robert De Niro why he thinks audiences are attracted to films about gangsters: "Why do you think people respond to the gangster genre so much?"
"It’s just that people like the outlaw type thing except it’s just
that we have a gangster, wannabe gangster in the White House
right now," is what De Niro said.
You all knew that one was coming. Robert De Niro is no fan of Donald Trump. Robert De Niro hates Donald Trump more than Vladimir Putin hates Hillary Clinton. And if De Niro could, he would left foot and right foot kick Trump up out of the White House.
“It is my civic obligation to play Mueller,” is what De Niro told Colbert about how he is doing his part, by playing Robert Mueller on Saturday Night Live , in order to help the American voters see that Trump needs to part ways from the White House.
The one thing that gets De Niro’s blood pressure to rising, when it comes to Trump, is how much of a wanksta Trump is:
"And a dunkste is a way of calling a Don a sort of contracted way
of Don. A DD you call them. A disappointed dunkste. That’s what
he is. He’s a dumbbell, in other words…Even gangsters have
morals and they have ethics. They have a code. You know when
you give somebody your word it’s your word because that’s all you
have is your word; especially in that world. This guy, he doesn’t
even know what that means."
"He has all of the best words but he doesn’t mean any of them,"
said Colbert.
It’s true. Donald Trump does have all of the best words from his days in the 1950s in elementary school.
There is one thing that is certain. If Robert De Niro had the power of Don Vito Corleone, he would have done to Donald Trump what Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) did to that senator who was trying to expose the Mafia.
All of those Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougals, who Donald Trump has allegedly paid to spend “special time” with, would have come rolling up out of his dirty little secret closet.
That Donald Trump! He has so many dirty secrets, allegedly!
